Dear
ministry partner:
Thank YOU for your partnership
with First Love Ministries.
I never got sick one time during my 14th
trip to India. It was one of our most fruitful trips ever. I really
enjoyed having my friend John Romnes along. He is a joy to travel with
and I love his humor as well as his perspective on things. As most of
you know, while I was in India Cindy’s mother broke her hip then during
surgery had complications which caused her death. Cindy and I appreciate
your prayers during this time of adjustment for Cindy as she was her
mother’s primary care giver. I am glad that during the last few years
Cindy was able to spend a lot of time with her mother. The family has
asked me to hold a memorial service in Natoma, KS on September 4th
at 2pm with dinner following. Thank you for all your prayers. We rely
heavily on the knowledge of knowing we have you as a partner in ministry
and your prayers make a difference in so many ways.
The Ark Home is open outside Kolkata and we have
our first two precious little girls in this home. Salome is six years
old and Sarthi is four. This home will hold twenty-four girls. We had a
dedication service with cake and balloons and I even got my fingernails
painted for the first time in my life. Sarthi insisted on doing it and,
really, they didn’t look bad. We are looking to buy land so we can build
another home for girls. This time we have decided on an area in Kolkata
and are trying to buy a big enough piece of land to not only build a
home but a Bible College. After talking with the Board of FLM of India
we are starting another non-profit called First Love Ministries of Asia
and the Bible College will be run under this organization. After much
prayer, I felt that all the work we are doing to start a Bible College
in Peru can be utilized and help us in starting one in India. For years
we have helped students go to Bible College in India, and to date have
helped over 120 students. This trip we were able to help twenty-five new
girls and one boy through a new program God led me to start. We now have
helped over 200 girls. God is so good and it is exciting to see the
growth of vision but also the fruit of the ministry.
I felt terrible not being able to be at home when
Cindy lost her Mother. I was thankful for our pastor and his wife as
well as other friends and her sisters that were there for her. One night
I awoke from sleep and felt God leading me to start this new program. I
am taking the first two letters of my mother’s name, Marjorie,
(whom I lost last year) and Cindy’s mother’s name, Ruby, and
calling this new program The MARU Project. This Project will work
with a local church in helping children who need help in their
education, clothing, and food. John and I visited one of FLM’s churches
and the pastor had three little kids living in the church. They needed
help with food, clothing and their education. I simply smiled and as I
was led of God and said, “These three precious little lives will be the
first children to be helped by The MARU Project!”
We also spent time at our Topeka Stars Home where
we have a feeding program feeding over 70 kids on an average day. It is
also a home where we have seventeen girls and a place to help others
that simply need a mat to sleep on during the night. We also spent time
at our Alliance Project Home where we now have 32 girls. For some reason
-- I simply cannot explain it -- but while they were having a program,
doing Bible Stories and then dancing, I got up and danced like a wild
man to the joy of all the staff and girls. To bring a smile and laughter
to a child who has known so much pain makes me so happy even if it is
humbling for me.
We also dedicated a church that FLM has been
helping to build and I was privileged to also dedicate the pastor’s two
sons to God. We took on another pastor and his wife under the covering
of FLM. That brings us to a total of 61 pastors around the world that
FLM is covering and supporting. We have 12 pastors available for you to
sponsor at $30 per month.
Our ministry time in Spain was very special. For over 50 years I have
been told I would preach in over 50 countries of the world. I have been
told this by several different people. Spain was our 50th
country we have ministered in. I shared with the people during my first
service there that they were part of the fulfillment of prophecy upon my
life since I was a little boy. All the private dreams I had wondering if
that prophecy would be fulfilled many times perplexed me. I have never
felt like I was anything special at all but I have always known how
special God is. I knew if God desired it and I was willing to obey, then
it would happen. Praise God for fulfilled prophecy’s through my
obedience. What a wonderful fulfillment of The Year of Multiplication we
are seeing in 2010. THANK YOU for YOUR part in all that God is doing
through First Love Ministries.
